Before: A non-descript warehouse
After: A winged building that glows in the dark
It's a building, it's a brand, it's the Firefly. Open office lofts in the front section, hip residential lofts in the rear, separated by an outside stairwell/balcony system sheathed in perforated metal screens that shimmer by day and glow by night. Look up to the roof to see the winged roof canopy, and shield your eyes from the day glow green color scheme and you start to see why it's called the Firefly.
Working in the four floors of open plan office space beats working in any cubicle farm; open ceiling joists, innovative rolling main doors, and great views from every seat make for a relaxing work day. But, in the summer when your mind starts to wander to other things, you can always head upstairs to watch a Dayton Dragon's baseball game from the 3000 square foot rooftop terrace overlooking 5/3rd Field.
A 2 story gallery atrium is the focal point of the upper floors, where there is often an art exhibit, providing a thought provoking place for people to meet. It is these built in features that make the building more than office space and more of a "campus" atmosphere. Creating new ways for people to interact with architecture is part of what drives RBA, and this building should be a showcase, since it is the current home of RBA, our third since our founding in 1995.
Come meet us to discuss your next project and you will understand this building better than words can explain, and maybe you too will live or work in a building that is deserving of a name instead of just an address.
